On October 30th 1918, just a few days before the end of World War One, HMCS Galiano, was on duty servicing light houses on the coast of British Columbia. She was steaming from from Triangle Island to the Queen Charlotte Islands when she encountered a terrible storm and went down with all hands. She was the only Canadian warship to be lost during the war.
