Man Overboard 24in x 36in $2,000.

During the voyage of HMS DISCOVERY

to the West coast of North America in November of 1792,

a seaman, Jonathan Davison fell overboard.

It was unusual in those days for a warship

to carry a boat in davits at the stern,

but Captain Vancouver with foresight

had his ship fitted out that way and quick launching

of the jolly boat enabled a successful rescue.
